DEODORANT DEVELOPMENT / BUYER GUIDE

Deodorant vs. Antiperspirant

Start by defining whether the brief concerns body odor or sweat reduction.

Two different functions

Deodorants address unwanted odor. Antiperspirants are intended to reduce sweating. The same product may have both functions only when the formulation and evidence support them.

Define the destination market

Product classification and ingredient requirements depend on where the product will be sold. Include the target market in the first supplier brief.

Write a specific brief

Describe intended use, format, target user and exact claims. Avoid using deodorant and antiperspirant as interchangeable product specifications.
